If one word could describle Blinded Nation as an album it would be energy !. High speed, highly technical Thrash coming from Colombia
This is definitely one of the Southamerican standout releases of 2013. Filled with great solos, catchy riffs, over the top production and great musicianship it is a must have for fans of the newer version of thrash as well as the fans from the golden era.
At this point Sick Faith is a brutally unstoppable thrash machine.

Provenienti dalla Colombia, i giovani Sick Faith si sono formati nel 2007 e giungono sulle nostre scrivanie sotto le insegne della EBM Records , che ci consegna un lavoro ancora acerbo e perfettibile. Blinded Nation , primo full length ufficiale dei sudamericani, è contraddistinto da un thrash moderno, tanto nel riffing -melodico, tagliente- quanto nelle ritmiche, le quali accostano potenti break rallentati alle consuete mitragliate rapide. Musicalmente il prodotto è gradevole, accompagnato da buoni assoli e discrete melodie, senza essere nulla di trascendentale o eccezionale; vocalmente, invece, il platter perde qualche punto, in quanto il tono urlato utilizzato dal singer Oscar Cèspedes è discreto, ma talvolta poco esaltante, quando non addirittura dissonante. Non vi sono refrain memorabili e la pronuncia inglese suona spesso deficitaria.
Al di là di questo, va detto che alcune canzoni si presentano come un giusto mix di melodia, energia e velocità, mentre altre sono più dirette, tirate e veementi; il ritornello che resta più impresso è quello di Tyrannical Government Model , catchy e accattivante nonostante la crudezza vocale, mentre in genere tutti i brani presentano martellanti sezioni ritmiche e sprazzi strumentali capaci di far oscillare un po' la testa, pur senza essere memorabili. Non mancano un paio di episodi molto groovy, moderni, robusti, ma eccessivamente noiosi nel complesso. Il disco merita qualche ascolto, di sicuro, non è male, ma al tempo stesso non rappresenta affatto un acquisto imprescindibile, soprattutto in questo duro periodo di recessione. Resta impressa l'ottima prova di Camilo Millan , batterista dal tocco scrosciante che contribuisce non poco a movimentare le varie canzoni.
Scorrevole la tracklist, che si assesta sui nove brani ed i quaranta minuti di durata, anche se qualche pezzo a volte suona eccessivamente prolisso e monotono. Nulla da dire sulla produzione, robusta e compatta, e la registrazione è al passo con i tempi, ampiamente positiva. Le chitarre di Andrés Garzón e Oscar Cèspedes sembrano ispirate soprattutto quando alle prese con riff di natura melo-thrash, affilati ma anche molto musicali. Anche in questo caso niente di clamoroso o innovativo, ovviamente, ma di certo questi ragazzi dimostrano di credere parecchio in quello che fanno e con il giusto pizzico di personalità. C'è da smussare qualche spigolo e limare i difetti più evidenti, dopodiché i quattro colombiani potrebbero anche auspicare a risultati ben migliori di questo debut. |

With so much attention being shown to the feverishly passionate Metal fans of South America and so many DVD's coming out in recent years from that region from some of metals biggest names, it only makes sense that more bands are coming into the metal universes conscious from there as well. Thrashers SICK FAITH hails from Columbia with their full-length debut CD “Blinded Faith” . The band has previously released two EPs 2009's “Thrash Metal Has Returned” and 2012's “Agents of War” .
The CD begins with the sounds of boots marching and former U.S. President George Bush's speech announcing the beginning of military operations with coalition forces against Sadam Hussein. It is the opening track “Wars Prelude-Endless War” and what follows is a primal, guttural scream and some raw guitars evoking memories of some early ANTHRAX . The war themes pretty much dominate this CD and the band shows a lot of promise although I would not say they are quite there yet for world domination. They are not breaking any new ground here and the anger factor will thrill anyone looking to lash out and get rid of some aggression.
As I listened, I honed in on the guitars and backlines, the ingredients are all there for some severe thrash to come, and this one offers up a lot of great raw thrash without a lot of overworked production on the sound, which in itself is what is best about this CD. This is the band you walk into a random show somewhere while they are on the stage and blows you away, the kind that makes you want more. Some major head bangers that stand out are track 1 which may be the CD's best track, and track 7 “Killing Scorn” which has a wicked off-tune guitar chord start that quickly engages into full-blown in-your-face Thrash that may define the bands future potential.
If SICK FAITH keeps its current line-up and continues to grow and build from this very cool first effort, the world may indeed be their stage. Pure, raw, aggressive, and promise makes this album well worth checking out and should cure your taste for war. |

Buen trabajo de ésta banda Colombiana formada en 2007 por Oscar Vázquez.
Este es su tercer trabajo tras el anterior EP Thrash Metal Has Returned de 2009 y el siguiente EP Agents Of War de 2012. Buén sonido de guitarras y buena producción, nos sorprenden con un primer trallazo titulado “Endless War” en onda Thrash tipo Bay Área, cuya línea general es la que marcan en el CD. Destacan la voz de Oscar, con rabia y fuerza, recordando ligeramente en ocasiones a Rob Flynn en los tiempos de Vio-Lence o en Machine Head, y las dobles armonías de guitarras de Andrés Garzón y del propio Oscar que comparte la labor vocal principal con la guitarra solista.
Gran comienzo con fuerza y rabia en “Tyrannical Government Model” destacando el trabajo vocal de Oscar y la constante y técnica destreza del baterísta Camilo Millán.
Me encanta el comienzo de “Ashes Of Illusions” en donde dan un pequeño respiro con guitarras acústicas al comienzo y más líneas melódicas en las guitarras, siendo uno de los mejores temas a mi parecer, más a medio tiempo. Sólo era un pequeño respiro ya que siguen con tralla a tope de velocidad en el siguiente “Forgotten Humanity “otro de los favoritos del disco. En la onda de los más tralleros Slayer, Exodus o Testament.
Insaciable doble bombo en “Killing Scorn”, que dá paso al último tema “Unborn Condemned”, 8 temas en total de brillante trabajo, fuerza y agresividad Thrash sin perder ni un ápice de técnica y calidad, sorprendiéndonos el sello EBM Records con trabajos de bandas sudaméricanas como Sick Faith . Fans de los anteriores grupos citados no debéis de perdéroslo. |
